As Water Falls follows Dez as he is haunted by a timeless, African mermaid named the Mami Wata. The first novel, written by BJ Staples, spans a journey filled with family and faith, trauma and pain. From the streets of Washington, D.C., with the story, Dez shifts and grows. He dreams and learns, revealing a desire for a lost home and heritage, but a submission to something more radiant. The unfortunate disconnect of his family and history pulls Dez apart. Yet, the need for divine and synchronicity take hold, washing over all.
 
BJ Staples is a lifelong writer. His most recent project, As Water Falls, took him years to complete. With the support of family, friends, and faculty at Radford University, the novel is finally here. BJ is a child of God, a teacher, and the father of two beautiful daughters. He is from Triangle, Virginia. He currently resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
